A Midnight Call

One
A midnight call between stars and sky
Leaves me asking, “Which way will I go in the days of Flame?”
To which they say “To her, to her, forever to her.”
Heat and Sand and Blood frame the windows as I walk to her.

Two
A midnight call between stars and sky
I am left to gasp “Where do I go, and why?”
The brilliant night has no concern
And the black-hued heavens give no reply
Forming between them a web of light and thought
Which I have draped my heart over, thinking it iron-wrought.

Three
A midnight call between stars and sky
Causes my heart to cry
“What will come in the days of Flame?
I am a seeker of passion and fame.”
And alone, the vast darkness and the ocean of light
Came together to produce the quiet of true Night.

Four
A midnight call between stars and sky
Finds me pausing to blink an eye
And let gravity guide a single drop
Past the surging of heart’s blood and into place.

Or

A midnight call between stars and sky
Finds me smiling and winking an eye
At the shining Moon, who laughs with me from on high
And leaves me smirking until she dies.

Torch

Burning away the past,
I am filled with the light of action
Until the flames find no more fuel,
And I stand in the darkness of memory.

Foggy Thursday

Foggy Thursday grips me tight
He blankets the city, winning the fight
But Foggy Thursday is a friend
He brings the clarity to an end
Oh Thursday, don’t let go
You hid the world we knew
And covered the dump with misty magic
When you leave, it becomes tragic
So come back soon, Foggy Thursday
I need your clouds to shroud the way.

Miscommunicatis

Signal interference

Flings your noise from ear to ear;

A web of understanding

With threads in disarray

Your face is passion, your movements grace

But the sounds you make

Have as much sense

If they were said from the bottom

Of a lake.

Light Me

Light a candle for memory,
One for hearth, and one for flesh,
But leave no flame for my soul,
Leave no tallowed wick,
For my soul is light in shadow,
And shines the darker than the rest.

Gravitas

The cars flow by and the signs share the glow

And an entire city blooms into colorful riot

But my world remains thick and grey, and

I am so heavy

Laughter rings and revelers chime

Rippling the monotone waters

Around the island I become because

I am very heavy

You look for me but I can't

Be found, my last words bubbles

Coming from the ground;

I am too heavy

We bear it on our backs and necks

But hardest hit is our heart, a wreck

Never knowing a hand of healing

I am now heavy.
