A Midnight Call

One
A midnight call between stars and sky
Leaves me asking, “Which way will I go in the days of Flame?”
To which they say “To her, to her, forever to her.”
Heat and Sand and Blood frame the windows as I walk to her.

Two
A midnight call between stars and sky
I am left to gasp “Where do I go, and why?”
The brilliant night has no concern
And the black-hued heavens give no reply
Forming between them a web of light and thought
Which I have draped my heart over, thinking it iron-wrought.

Three
A midnight call between stars and sky
Causes my heart to cry
“What will come in the days of Flame?
I am a seeker of passion and fame.”
And alone, the vast darkness and the ocean of light
Came together to produce the quiet of true Night.

Four
A midnight call between stars and sky
Finds me pausing to blink an eye
And let gravity guide a single drop
Past the surging of heart’s blood and into place.

Or

A midnight call between stars and sky
Finds me smiling and winking an eye
At the shining Moon, who laughs with me from on high
And leaves me smirking until she dies.
